How we work
Yacht Almanac explains yacht charter and ownership in plain words, and passes enquiries to one of our partner brokers when a reader asks. This page is the standard every guide is held to.
Where our information comes from
Published rates from yachts and brokers, official sources (event organisers, national parks, tax authorities), and the working knowledge of a charter broker who checks our figures. Every source is named and dated on the page that uses it.
The numbers rule
No price appears without a named source and the date it was read. Where an honest figure cannot be sourced, the guide explains what drives the price instead. The only exact number in chartering is a quote for a specific yacht and week.
How guides are written
Drafts are prepared with the help of AI writing software. Every guide is then checked, corrected and edited by the Yacht Almanac editors before it is published, and a guide is marked as broker-checked only once a working charter broker has checked its figures. We do not claim first-hand experience we do not have.
How it costs you nothing
Yacht Almanac is free to use. When you ask for help, we pass your request to one of our partner brokers, who are licensed brokers. If you book, the broker shares part of their commission with us. You never pay more for it. We don't sell charters or yachts ourselves and don't accept paid placements.
What we will never do
- Invent prices, discounts or availability.
- Sell or share your details with anyone except the broker answering your enquiry.
- Take payment to rank or recommend a yacht.
- Put a form between you and the answer.
